This is an afternoon / evening session, specifically focusing on night time running skills.
We’ll focus on the skills, equipment and ‘mind-set’ needed to complete a winter / night time mountain running event, such as Marmot Dark Mountains, or The Spine Race.
However, this session is invaluable for any runner wanting to learn winter navigation skills. The session will feature macro and micro navigation skills, equipment, clothing and safety.
Naturally, this will be an active outdoor session, (but at a steady pace!) and you’ll learn how to be efficient and safe at night and in winter.
We’ll take a break at a mountain bothy and ‘brew up’, testing out and demonstrating the equipment and techniques needed to complete ‘Dark Mountains’, The Spine Race or other night time mountain adventure.
This special session will run from 2pm – 8pm – based from The White Horse, Scales, near Keswick.
The White Horse has convenient parking and bunkhouse … as well as food and drink, of course!
The cost is just £65 per person – with a maximum group size of just four people. If you book a pair of places more than three weeks before this course, you qualify for a 10% discount.
This session will be led by Joe Faulkner, who will share his experience as a competitor and race safety consultant. Joe has competed in two Dark Mountains Elite Class events, winning the Mixed Pairs in 2013. He has also completed The Spine Race in 2015, having been a key member of the Mountain Safety Teams in 2013 and 2014.
Thirty years of fell and ultra running together with professional mountain qualifications makes Joe the ideal tutor. You can read more about Joe and the NAV4 Adventure team on our ‘About Us’ page.
